QUOTE(paulsenior @ Aug 24 2007, 07:50) Lots and lots! I went out and looked tonight for you. I don't know exactly: there are too many littering the landscape - I can't count the forest because of all the trees in the way ... The north side of my house is one garden of my "Old Plants": all plants (except one) are 5 feet tall or more (I think Jack is 7 feet tall ...) 13 Plants north side in an eight inch pot or bigger. That number is exact. The east side of my house is the big garden: with this crazy 8 foot tree and about 18 - 25 more 'teenage plants' (Like 6 foot 6 inch "Sally" and her twin brother 6 foot 3 inch "Sammy") ranging in size from one foot to almost 7 feet above their dirt line in their pots. And then 20 to 30 'baby plants' in 3" pots. About a dozen to 20 plants bigger than me (3 or 4 bigger than me in 7 months: San Diego weather). And about a dozen more of those are above my waist. From 50 - 70 Plants "About 60 Plants" grow for me: some have chosen to grow VERY FAST!!!! -------------------- |

QUOTE(siamus kikuemon @ Aug 25 2007, 03:45) O_O ... what do you use all those plants for, except for producing seeds...? omg ... WAAANT ... WAAAANNTT.... Cuttings. Thousands of Cuttings! All year around I give away cuttings. Just come to see me: I give Salvia away. I MUST Give away them: no more room in garden for more trees ... Lately I give away 4 foot tall plants - so few people drive to see me I give trees instead of cuttings. Clear the yard out: but too slowly - the plants are piling up. San Diego warmth and sunshine makes them grow very VERY Fast! Der Beitrag wurde bearbeitet von Sea Mac am Aug 25 2007, 15:35 Uhr. -------------------- |

"See that? Why can't you guys grow like Sea Mac's plants?" Because San Diego has insanely great weather, nice and warm, all year around: with winter light levels about where your summer light levels are, I'd reckon. And Our Summer light levels would kill unprotected Salvia plants: they get plenty of reflected light from surrounding buildings underneath that tarp. (and even I think they are growing like they are charmed ...) No rain here in 4 months now ... And it's really too warm for them to be happy here this time of the year ... "You need some great big banks of Grow Lights around us, if you expect a meter of growth in 2 months, out of us!" yeah "And Bigger pots too!" your plants just said ... _______________________________________________________________________________ You remember the 3 pictures I posted of that 'baby plant' Sw004? (She took the name "Sally" and I call her that every day: "Sally, I Love You!" ) According to my careful records: that plant was the end of a long branch - that was removed about 5 PM on January 31st, 2007 - from the JOLLY GREEN GIANT PLANT itself! (you know which one I mean ... ) On May 24th Sally was 26 inches high (66 cm) above the dirt level in her pot! (3 months and 3 weeks old. Two feet two inches tall) On June 13th (3 weeks Later) she is now 41 Inches tall (105 cm) above the dirt level in her pot And then on August 21st she's at 78 inches above the dirt level in her pot (2 Meters) and rises above me (about 2.34 meters above the cement the pot is on): I'm 5' 8" and can look up on the undersides of top leaves for caterpillars now without disturbing her! She's just a baby plant still - in my book - because she is not even 7 months old yet ... but she grows a meter in the last 2 months! The Topic was "How fast does it grow?" and I posted pictures and measurements to show you ... and apparently the answer is "Up to a METER in 2 Months!" Goodbye Sally: I'll send "Jack" over - in a couple of months from now - to climb you up to the Giant's Castle in the clouds - and there Jack will steal a Magic Harp and a goose that lays golden eggs... I'm sure to get a cut ... Now you be good and don't knock any aircraft down on your way up to the clouds ... No going through any Jet Intakes allowed! (/Fractured Fairy Tale) ________________________________________________________________________________ I can't Mail her, OR lug her, away now - she's gotten too big. I guess she'll have to stay here in the Sacred Green Garden with me and I'll worship them - and with the honor of growing the Green Goddess - at their feet - Errr ... roots! Now where am I going to put several more 7 Foot trees as they spread out over the next year? HELP! I'm drowning in TOO Many Salvia Plants! I'm thinking seriously about commercial growing now. Sorry: Can't ship overseas! (Yet) And how do you propose I box and mail this? He's grown into the Tarp now - I've got to cut him back. He is almost as twice as tall as me. -------------------- |

How Fast Does It Grow?
Depending on Ambient Light Levels: 1/8" to 1/4" (3 mm to 6 mm) per day. If supported: she can grow 2 to 3 meters high. "Dearie" in front and "Darling" hiding behind her .... Closer View here: http://sageseeds.info/cupboard/photos/gard.../gardentree.gif What sort of harvested yield to expect? Depending on Ambient Light Levels! If you let a small plant grow 1 year without harvesting: It has a chance to grow larger leaves: Some over a foot long: (14 Inches active solar collection surface! Sun of a beech: that's some record holder there!) 2 or 3 bundles like this: And leave half the leaves on the plant: Der Beitrag wurde bearbeitet von Sea Mac am Jun 28 2013, 21:51 Uhr. -------------------- |

Very nice plants and thank you very much for sharing your garden with us!
Beautiful pictures you have made and nice idea to animate some of them. One of my favourite animated picture is where you had been hiding behind your Salvia forest, but to be honest I like all of them. Nice work. Are you using the leafes for phychodelic experiences? (I think so) Greets from Germany I saw the other pictures from the posted link and I just have to repeat what a nice garden you had lay out. |

(I think so) Greets from Germany I saw the other pictures from the posted link and I just have to repeat what a nice garden you had lay out. Thank You! The Garden I had in 2008/2009 was larger and nicer ... yes. But this Garden is starting off OK after about a Year and a Half here. I use the leaves ... but it always takes me to the same box and puts me in it. So I am bored of it: and dead leaves pile up under the trees. You would cry if you saw all the wasted sacred leaves. I do like making the animated pictures. I have a few Hummingbirds from 2006 Here. (I have made over 50 more Hummingbird pictures but have not added them yet.) And there are animations of Large Machines Here. Der Beitrag wurde bearbeitet von Sea Mac am Jun 30 2013, 15:27 Uhr. -------------------- |

I can imagine how many leafes you have to "waste", but with such big plants it is not surprising. How you should use them all? It´s a way too much...
These pictures are nice too and good job to let some of them look like they are "endless". Did you see these Hummingbirds in your garden or just on another place? It seems you have many running projects with own web pages? |
