QUOTE(Terminator @ Dec 24 2012, 03:43) Hi! Thank You.Yes, I think I shall have a few flowers this year .... and perhaps some seeds also. They DO seem nice this year, Thank You again. I estimated about 5,000+ flowers will fall off these plants in the next 5 months. I might try to make PERFUME with them .... (If I DID I would probably be the only person in the World to try making Salvia divinorum Perfume, huh?) I guess that makes me Crazy. That, or the fact that I believe that The Second Coming of Jesus is coming up on Christmas Day 2013 - one or the other of those 2 makes me "Crazy" Oh, and Merry Christmas! Success!
Tonight I crawled around on the ground under my plants with a strong flashlight and tweezers and picked up as many calicies as I could find. I examined the calicies and found at least one with ripe seeds in it. I want to send all my seeds this year to Mr. Daniel Siebert. QUOTE(puppy @ Jan 15 2013, 16:18) I thank you ... but my precious plant "American" did almost all of the work! I just pollinated. I think there were a couple more seeds inside the dried up calyx - there might have been a total of 4 seeds! Mr. Siebert (the world renowned Salvia expert) in Santa Barbara will get them tomorrow. Salvia divinorum DOES set seeds IF you can coax her to bloom. Most people's plants do not bloom because they are near a window/or street light/or security lights. If your plants are under your living room window they will stay up late and watch TV, or Party, with you and the gang. Plants that stay up late and party (or watch TV) NEVER want to bloom. There are hundreds of flowers on those other 2 plants: and I need to TRY to pollinate as many as I can reach as often as I can. Seeds readily set: but not all make it to full size and color and maturity. I'm going to TRY for quite a few more seeds before Spring. This is the second time I have shipped Salvia seeds to Mr. Daniel Siebert ... the last time was 6 years ago. Here is a perfect chance to diversify the species with new strains - I need to do my very best now. I know the signs the plant shows me and can tell from the outline of the base of the calyx IF nutlets are swelling up inside there! I know by looking from the outside, and don't need to see Up Inside, to know there are seeds forming. There's a certain "Look" to pregnant calicies .... From Now on, when I SEE that specific swelling: I'm going to carefully slide the opened end of a 5/8" square Ziploc baggie over the calyx (to protect it from that seed eating bird). It will make finding them much easier if the calyx falls off the plant. See? I told you nice people I'd keep you informed. And this group is among the first in the world to be informed that Sea Mac did it again 6 years later! (So my getting seeds 6 years ago wasn't a 1-shot fluke: I've got the secrets to getting seeds and published them at http://sageseeds.info for every one to follow.) Did Mr. Siebert receive them and have you heard from him since? Mr. Siebert wrote me a week or two ago. He received the 3 seeds: and none of them germinated for him.And now for more recent Photos: Baw002, here, had the largest leaf .... I tried Measuring it ON THE Plant: But it wasn't until I removed it for wrapping that I got a glimpse of what a happy Salvia plant does: (14 Inches active solar collection surface! Sun of a beech: that's some record holder there!) I mailed a few leaves to somebody - to chew up: One of Several Bundles Shipped: Fresh from the trees with dirt/arthropods/and ALL still on them! That person will get them tomorrow! Der Beitrag wurde bearbeitet von Sea Mac am Jun 28 2013, 21:27 Uhr. -------------------- |
