How large can potted Salvia plants grow? I'm curious ...
I have a plant that is 25 months old in a 24" diameter plastic pot.
I call him "Calvin" and he's SUCH a dear plant to me. I love him and talk to him every day.
Here's another view of us and a few of the 'baby plants' sheltering under him:
Is this big? I thought he had a lot of growing to do yet! He is only 6 feet tall and I understand 10 feet is possible!
Until somebody posts a picture of a larger plant I'm going to start calling him "The largest Salvia divinorum plant in captivity".
And if you want to see his 'baby pictures' of when he was 'just a little stick' go here:
http://members.cox.net/thegarden/index.html.
How large have YOUR potted Salvia plants gotten?
I Love your salvia tree
i don't think that it can becomes more size than yours already have...
because its no tree you know ^^
@Sea Mac: Your wonderful climate is really perfect for salvia growing outdoors. Always warm and sunny, never too hot and air humidity always >60%
http://gocalifornia.about.com/cs/sandiego/l/bl_sd_temp.htm
i think that it will stop to grow into the sky ^^
it will get more ......the green things that are at the plant ^^
but much higher... i dont think so ^^
So, how much bigger will these dozen trees get then?
They are on the north side of the building! Will they get as big as the tree on the east side of the building?
Why do you ask us? You are the good Salvia grower!^^
I think that depens on the size of the pot and the nutrients in it...
How old is this plant, and how big is it?
Your plants are huge, how many kilos of leafs can you pick in a year?
lol
@ dARK_gRIFFON, you know, in America every thing is bigger. Sea Mac only want to make us jealous.
I love your last Picture. The color and the contrast between the light and the shadow are wonderful.
Your JPG comment is cool

hey ....

...... pssss
.....
beware,
he just wants to eat em all up (!!!!!!!!)
I have nice growing weather.
I never pick leaves. I wouldn't want something to come along and pick a part off of ME so I never like to do this to other creatures. (I'm Crazy).
I wait until the plant is done with it and throws it away. I seldom bother to pick up the leaves from the Ground anymore.
Miracle-Gro and LOTS of Love!
This Plant is 25 months old and 6 feet tall ...
________________________________________________________________________________
I couldn't trust my eyes so today I took a Tape measure out to measure a 4 month old 'Baby Plant'.
I've repotted this Plant this evening and She is named "Sally" now ...
Before I repotted Sally she measured 26" (66 cm) tall (she was root bound, in an 8" pot, poor baby):
But what astonished me SO Much was the SIZE of her Leaves!
I measured a leaf at 12" (30 cm) from stem to end ...
Salvia's Leaves CAN reach a Foot long (Rarely)!
Some sort of Record setting leaf there ...
[offtopic]
At the moment I have one bigger leaf...it's as long as yours but rather round!
Everytime I'm singing the song "Fallen leaves" bye Billie Talent I think about your way of earning SAlly. Many users here do it the same way.
@Sea Mac: Nice Plants! My plants died a few month ago. I got them from ebay and they were very bad.
@topic: I don't think that Salvia plants will grow higher than 10 feet! Usually they grow circa 2 meters high.
I looked at this picutre for about five minutes. This plant is just amazing! If it gets any larger, it becomes the worlds first Salvia tree.
I just hope the plant is strong enough to hold it's own weight.
@SeaMac:
Your plant is the nicest an biggest salvia plant I have ever seen.
Very nice plant! It's a great idea to put mantis on your plants. I like this insects. But the plant is very amazing, I've never seen a bigger one!
Here is a new Picture.
Calvin grows BIGGER! Almost twice as tall as I am. Soon he will hit the Tarp above him.
Tall above the house windows: Almost to the drainpipe on the roof! I must use a ladder to work on him now!
Happy growing to all my German pen-pals!
I got a question, can every salvia plant grow this size if you put them into a big bucket?
Or are you doing something special to your plants? Are you growing salvia on your own special way?
Please dont say its your secret
yea ya can really say its a tree^^
im intrested what yield youd have to expect if teh plant would be dead and dried^^ i think it's about 250g dry, or what do you think
Hi all!
It's been a few months.
They didn't stop growing.
Sally and Sammy are over 8 feet tall now: they are exactly 8 months and 3 days old now!
Here:
(View from the side looking North)
Sammy is way out of my reach! He was born on Jan. 31st 2007 and 8 months later (Feb. - Sept.) needs repotting.
I'm planning on getting all those 10" branches he's covered with off of him today - as cuttings.
Then, when he's had a haircut, I'll try to move him from a 12" pot to a 16" pot. I'm going to wrestle a shrub taller than me and hope I don't hurt him.
I'm dwarfed by large healthy Salvia shrubs! (View from the front looking West)
Calvin grew into the tarp over him and got broken. There is a branch leaning against the wall up there and he's going for the gap between the tarp and the wall! He plans to colonize the roof area "Above the Jungle Canopy" with dozens of branches!
Sneaky GIANT Plant!
Namaste, friends!
Hey Sea Mac,
Do you mind if I email you at your gmail email address, for tips on how you care for your plants (soil changes/fertilizers/sunlight/etc, standard growing questions)?
Also, any information on the rare seedings would be fantastic to know about. I know if I ever got seeds from my divinorum plant I really wouldn't know what to do with them. . (actually, never mind on the seeding information, I just thoroughly read and understood your seeding webpage!)
James
@Sea Mac: Im sorry. You are too small for your plants.
Thanks a lot Sea Mac, your help is very much so appreciated.
I agree with hogie, you look very short in those pictures because your plants are so enormously!
James
Seamac, your plants are real trees^^
I've read your linked site about the Seeds...but i still have one question...do they need heat or are 21°C/70°F enough?
your plants are cheating, like you - they are in their pots, not on the ground
Very nice......... I like your Sallys really
mfg
Lars
If there were no pictures, I wouldn't be able to believe that plants of this height existed anywhere in the world, no matter what climate they lived in. I suppose the Mazatec people of Oaxaca themselves would be impressed if they saw what SeaMac has achieved here.
I'm sure you love your plants, Sea Mac, but they seem to be loving you a lot as well, since they keep growing so rapidly. I was just wondering why you kept all of them in their flower-pots, since I suppose in your climate it wouldn't be a problem to put them in the ground and leave them there during the winter without taking a risk to lose any of them due to frost?
If we didn't have such cold winters here in Germany, I would attempt to raise a whole forest of salvia trees here - and in the summer I would be sitting in their shade with my friends, smoking the leaves or chewing them, like the Mazatec do!
Hi Sea Mac!
I really like what you are doing!
Your "seedgrow" with your own earnd seeds really astonished me!
I hope you will also post some pics in the next months to keep us informed.
Good luck !!

Next weekly update from my Garden.
The trees are flowering now.
And Hummingbirds are liking it! On the 15th of November I took these two photos:
Close Up:
And today (November 18th) the Bird flew in my face not afraid of me:
And then Fed on flowers way above me!
So: there are Rare pictures of a hummingbird pollinating my trees!
Need to see more Salvia and less hummingbird? http://sageseeds.info/seeds2007/20071115hummingbird.jpg
wow! sweet (both, your flowering trees and the bird)
i thougt that humming birds are very shy, but now i know it better^^
Tobi
I must say, im still very astonished by your care tending skills, and your respect for these plants.
I am a failed farmer, first time ever growing anything, and it didn't turn out to good, I really badly burned my plants, one I don't think is recoverable. It's been a few months, and one is just starting to grow leaves again.
The only successful growers I know use sunlight, but It's winter time here, and we get very little sunlight, and the window sills are just too cold for the plants.
I use flourescent lighting, a fan, and a 13 hour timer to keep the plants at 'full' growth potential. Any lighting advice? I use a multipurpose soil, part mulch to allow for a successful water drain.
Anyone recommend any advice? I've read all the growers manuals numerous times over through various websites, but im not satisfied, Im very much so jealous of sea mac and I marvel at his wonderful creations. I wish my plants could look like that. I've been growing my plants since September, and they haven't much progressed, I think they are still recovering from that nutrition burn.
lif3
I think I killed the thread with my little remorse there .
Sorry about it .
Also, anyone name any good lighting or anything? seems that my plant rooted new roots because the other ones weren't supplying sufficient enough nutrients and such, due to nute burn.
Other soil was molded too, 48 hours and the surface was covered with a chalk like resin that seemed to be on top of the dirt.
So I got new soil, and transplanted them .
But I still need some names of some high quality lights that you guys use!

wow I wish I could grow my plants outside the whole year (in my opinion the best way to keep plants). but unfortunately the climate warming isn't progressing that fast
your plants are really nice.
i hope that you don't get problems with the law, so on next christmas you can show a new picture with you building a tree-house in your sallies ^^
so (though it's a bit late...) happy new year back to california

First: Super good News!
AB259 has been Amended! California is no Longer considering making
Salvia divinorum a Felony!
Monday the 7th of Jan 2008: AB259 had it's wording changed!
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/07-08/bill/asm/ab_0251-0300/ab_259_bill_20080107_amended_asm_v97.html
AB 259, as amended, Adams.
Under existing law, the sale or distribution of specified
intoxicating substances is a crime, punishable by imprisonment or a
fine.
This bill would make the sale or distribution of Salvia divinorum
or Salvinorin A, or any substance or material containing Salvia
divinorum or Salvinorin A, to any person under 18 years of age a
misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not more
than 6 months, by a fine of no more than $1,000, or both.
Because this bill would create a new crime , it would impose a
state-mandated local program.
The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local
agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the
state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that
reimbursement.
This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this
act for a specified reason.
Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: yes.
State-mandated local program: yes.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 379 is added to the
Penal Code , to read:
379. Every person who sells, dispenses, distributes, furnishes,
administers, gives, or offers to sell, dispense, distribute, furnish,
administer, or give Salvia divinorum or Salvinorin A, or any
substance or material containing Salvia divinorum or Salvinorin A, to
any person who is less than 18 years of age, is guilty of a
misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding
six months, or by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars
($1,000), or by both that fine and imprisonment.
SEC. 2. No reimbursement is required by this act
pursuant to Section 6 of Article XIII B of the California
Constitution because the only costs that may be incurred by a local
agency or school district will be incurred because this act creates a
new crime or infraction, eliminates a crime or infraction, or
changes the penalty for a crime or infraction, within the meaning of
Section 17556 of the Government Code, or changes the definition of a
crime within the meaning of Section 6 of Article XIII B of the
California Constitution. "
Now not to be a felony to touch Salvia divinorum in California OR Maine!
All the plants clapped their hands when I told them they were to be spared the Ax ....
November 23rd 2007:
In December a storm blew 4 tall plants over:
3 of them from the other angle (After I picked Sally back up)
And a week ago I'm standing under a Salvia divinorum shade tree:
PS Salvia Plants cannot hold up a birdhouse - not even if you grow them for 10 years! I have watched them bend down under the extra weight of a hummingbird!
Do NOT hold your breath waiting for photos of a Salvia treehouse. Or birdhouse ...

The Open Racing Car Simulator. TORCS is a multi platform car racing simulation for Modern Systems
A Software Santa PICK! Another COOL Toy from Source Forge!
There are various sites on the Internet dedicated to TORCS with additional content (cars, tracks, documentation, patches, etc.) so load 'em up!
On Window it requires at least an i686 compatible CPU to run. On Mac OS X it requires 10.3.9 or later to run.
TORCS, The Open Racing Car Simulator is a highly portable multi platform car racing simulation. It is used as ordinary car racing game, as AI racing game and as research platform. It runs on Linux (x86, AMD64 and PPC), FreeBSD, MacOSX and Windows. The source code of TORCS is licensed under the GPL ("Open Source"). You find more information about the project in the menu bar on the left. If you need help have a look at the FAQ first. You can contact us on the torcs-users mailing list (you need to subscribe to use it).
TORCS features more than 50 different cars, more than 20 tracks, and 50 opponents to race against. Your can steer with a joystick or steering wheel, if the device is supported by your platform. It is also possible to drive with the mouse or the keyboard. Graphic features lighting, smoke, skidmarks and glowing brake disks. The simulation features a simple damage model, collisions, tire and wheel properties (springs, dampers, stiffness, ...), aerodynamics (ground effect, spoilers, ...) and much more. The gameplay allows different types of races from the simple practice session up to the championship. Enjoy racing against your friends in the split screen mode with up to four human players.
TORCS was initially written by Eric Espié and Christophe Guionneau, substantial parts have been added by other contributors (have a look into the "Credits" section for details). The TORCS source code is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL), most of the artwork is licensed under the Free Art License, have a look into the packages for details about copyright holders and the licensing.
The next big development goal is an online racing mode.

quote:Want to have a free flight? Take FlightGear!
Yet Another Flight Simulator?
Did you ever want to fly a plane yourself, but lacked the money or ability to do so? Are you a real pilot looking to improve your skills without having to take off? Do you want to try some dangerous maneuvers without risking your life? Or do you just want to have fun with a more serious game without any violence? If any of these questions apply to you, PC flight simulators are just for you.
You may already have some experience using Microsoft’s © Flight Simulator or any other of the commercially available PC flight simulators. As the price tag of those is usually within the $50 range, buying one of them should not be a serious problem given that running any serious PC flight simulator requires PC hardware within the $1500 range, despite dropping prices.
With so many commercially available flight simulators, why would we spend thousands of hours of programming and design work to build a free flight simulator? Well, there are many reasons, but here are the major ones:
* All of the commercial simulators have a serious drawback: they are made by a small group of developers defining their properties according to what is important to them and providing limited interfaces to end users. Anyone who has ever tried to contact a commercial developer would agree that getting your voice heard in that environment is a major challenge. In contrast, FlightGear is designed by the people and for the people with everything out in the open.
* Commercial simulators are usually a compromise of features and usability. Most commercial developers want to be able to serve a broad segment of the population, including serious pilots, beginners, and even casual gamers. In reality the result is always a compromise due to deadlines and funding. As FlightGear is free and open, there is no need for such a compromise. We have no publisher breathing down our necks, and we’re all volunteers that make our own deadlines. We are also at liberty to support markets that no commercial developer would consider viable, like the scientific research community.
* Due to their closed-source nature, commercial simulators keep developers with excellent ideas and skills from contributing to the products. With FlightGear, developers of all skill levels and ideas have the potential to make a huge impact on the project. Contributing to a project as large and complex as FlightGear is very rewarding and provides the developers with a great deal of pride in knowing that we are shaping the future of a great simulator.
* Beyond everything else, it’s just plain fun! I suppose you could compare us to real pilots that build kit-planes or scratch-builts. Sure, we can go out a buy a pre-built aircraft, but there’s just something special about building one yourself.
The points mentioned above form the basis of why we created FlightGear. With those motivations in mind, we have set out to create a high-quality flight simulator that aims to be a civilian, multi-platform, open, user-supported, and user-extensible platform. Let us take a closer look at each of these characteristics:
* Civilian: The project is primarily aimed at civilian flight simulation. It should be appropriate for simulating general aviation as well as civilian aircraft. Our long-term goal is to have FlightGear FAA-approved as a flight training device. To the disappointment of some users, it is currently not a combat simulator; however, these features are not explicitly excluded. We just have not had a developer that was seriously interested in systems necessary for combat simulation.
* Multi-platform: The developers are attempting to keep the code as platform-independent as possible. This is based on their observation that people interested in flight simulations run quite a variety of computer hardware and operating systems. The present code supports the following Operating Systems:
o Linux (any distribution and platform),
o Windows NT/2000/XP (Intel/AMD platform),
o Windows 95/98/ME,
o BSD UNIX,
o SGI IRIX,
o Sun-OS,
o Macintosh.
At present, there is no known flight simulator – commercial or free – supporting such a broad range of platforms.
* Open: The project is not restricted to a static or elite cadre of developers. Anyone who feels they are able to contribute is most welcome. The code (including documentation) is copyrighted under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).
The GPL is often misunderstood. In simple terms it states that you can copy and freely distribute the program(s) so licensed. You can modify them if you like and even charge as much money as want to for the distribution of the modified or original program. However, you must freely provide the entire source code to anyone who wants it, and it must retain the original copyrights. In short:
”You can do anything with the software except make it non-free”.
The full text of the GPL can be obtained from the FlightGear source code or from
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html.
* User-supported and user-extensible: Unlike most commercial simulators, FlightGear’s scenery and aircraft formats, internal variables, APIs, and everything else are user accessible and documented from the beginning. Even without any explicit development documentation (which naturally has to be written at some point), one can always go to the source code to see how something works. It is the goal of the developers to build a basic engine to which scenery designers, panel engineers, maybe adventure or ATC routine writers, sound artists, and others can build upon. It is our hope that the project, including the developers and end users, will benefit from the creativity and ideas of the hundreds of talented “simmers” around the world.
Without doubt, the success of the Linux project, initiated by Linus Torvalds, inspired several of the developers. Not only has Linux shown that distributed development of highly sophisticated software projects over the Internet is possible, it has also proven that such an effort can surpass the level of quality of competing commercial products.

But money can't buy you a finer commercial Flight, or Racing, Simulator ... with all the Bells and whistles!
I'm having more than the legal limit of fun with these kick ass rides: I've got to share the wealth 'fore I kasplode ... !
Groundhog's day 2008: 4 of the Giant plants that kept blowing over got upgrades to 16" pots in the last 2 weeks and now stand firm in high winds.
I needed the Money so I thought I'd climb Sally up to the Giant's Castle for some golden eggs ...
Notice that the 3 central plants are 1 year and 2 days old: see how tall above that 6 foot fence they are growing? Sweetie (Sw003) near my elbow, Sally (Sw004) I'm climbing, and Sammy (Sw005) left of sweetie in the corner of the wooden fence, were all cut from Calvin (C3) on the evening of Jan 31st 2007. They were helpless little sticks - I raised them all from little sticks! Part of Calvin can be seen on the right side ...
I Measured Sally at 8 feet above dirt level in her first year of Growth: TEN Feet tall Above the sidewalk! Everyone bets that these plants will stop growing taller eventually but notice you can't see all of Sally's top ....
They will grow as tall as the support poles I tie them to. If I could find 16 foot poles to tie them to they would be that high by next winter.
Amazing.
How are the new strains going? I mean MoonMaiden and Aquarian. :-)
Greetings from Germany where the days grow short for salvia ;(
Feb 8th and 9th, 2007:
the night of the 8th the old tarp is removed And I try to see the top of "Sally" ...
in the morning - the old broken Tarp is Removed
Later that day new Tarps are up:
We know if you support their stems potted Salvia divinorum plants can grow AT LEAST 8 feet tall!
I'm pretty sure they do NOT intend to stop growing when they hit the roof line so I expect them to reach 12 feet tall!
I hope the German government does Not take this sacred plant away from you!
Another Photo:
As high as the roof at least ...
Wow, im ashamed for not noticing your thread anytime before.
Your plants are really impressive as hell!
I guess you really have a green thumb
I hadnt enough time to read the whole thread, so pls apologize if this question may has been answered before.
Do you grow any other psychoactive plants than Salvia D.?
And do u actually even use it, or is Salvia D. just another botanical fosterling in your green collection?
Note: If there are any misspellings, pls apologize
Time for another update ...
I found out that the US DEA thinks Salvia Divinorum plants are scrawny little knee high sticks ...
You see? People are twice as tall as Salvia plants (Whether potted or planted): our illustrious government, in its immense wisdom, has said so!
Oh yeah?
I beg to differ. Potted or planted Salvia plants will grow as TALL As You support their stems to: and then flop outwards from that point.
The plant is rubber like a hose: Suppose you grew a hose plant next to a flagpole? As long as you tied the hose to the flagpole every foot up its length, as it grew, it wouldn't want to stop at all! 4 feet over the top of the flagpole the plant would bend outward from the top ....
I answered the question I asked to start this topic with. But I don't have a mile high flagpole next to my favorite hose plant so they'll HAVE To stop SOMEWHERE ... Probably when they reach the roof.
Look up at the roof ...
I see someone was climbing that funny looking green ladder up there ...
Hello from Salvia paradise
Carl
"can grow up to 3 feet high..."
I think the person, who wrote this text has never seen your plants
Your plants are very awesome!!!
I've never seen so big salvia before...
Keep it growing!
( sorry for bad english )
Have a nice day.
Let's call Sea Mac Jesus - or better: God
Shit that are the most beautiful plants I've ever seen!

Great plants! Incredible height, I wish my Sallys would be so tall and healthy.

wow , so amazing great !! cannot find right words ...
never heard of somebody did this before!
would you mind sharing seeds with german community?
... planting from new seeds would increase the genetic diversity
It's just incredible hoow good large this plants has been grown
Thank You!
I think these plants LIKE It here in San Diego!
So, if they never stop growing I'll have to post another picture in a month - to keep you updated.
I don't have any seeds this year. I'll try again this fall.
Carl
I am always amazed at your wonderful growing capability.
The DEA is as corrupt or more so than the illicit drug dealers. They like to make things up.
Lets all move to Canada, I hear they have amazing non-analogue laws. Something tells me that the Feds, are going to schedule it the same as mescaline and such.
I love California though.
lif3
We decided they would be glad to grow as tall as I have a pole to tie them to! They won't stop no matter how nicely I ask them! I am Lost in the Forest ...
omg, that´s overwhelming!
I cant belief what I see
I' m going to visit san diego this summer and i'm really tempted to visit you and your great plants^^ they are soo amazing!!! ^^
O my god! Sea Mac your plant is so nice ...My plants died all the time
And do you grow them out of seeds?... Magic ...
Im sorry but my English is bad
you got the biggest and best-looking plants ive ever seen *freakin out*
amazing hight, great color of the leaves.
best wishes
Your plants are so nice! You are a good men and i think you love your plants
sry for my bad english.
What you doo with the plants? Eat, smoke ore only for fun?
You should see some of the sick plants in my yard!
What WERE 7 foot trees are piles of dead Square sticks now. The remains of Iggy, and Caleb, and Isabel are dried dead skeletons in my yard: Lest you think I have 10 green thumbs!
Normally you only get to see my garden successes: But I've Killed as many as I've raised.
Mostly now I grow for fun: I chew up a BIG Bundle of HUGE Leaves only rarely.
My plants KNOW they are safe from me walking up to them and suddenly tearing something off of them. There is a CARPET of dead Salvia leaves lying on the ground! I love them SO Much I beg them for cuttings with tears in my eyes!
But all over the Yard are dead giant Salvia Divinorum trees ... But new ones start up and grow into giants and die in their turns: It's a circle of life kind of thing!
(Pay no attention to that man behind ... Errrr ... those dead trees in the side yard: the great OZ has spoken!)
You ONLY See the Plants that are my best successes and you NEVER see my failures so your opinion of my gardening skills must be unrealistic! I have plants that get sick and die just like YOUR Plants do. It's just that I have VERY Bright sun conditions and plants grow Very VERY Fast: so I have a LOT of them going giant at any given time!
But, no: If you lived in San Diego people would be admiring YOUR Plants Too! I'm just Lucky that I happen to live in an area that Salvia will tolerate growing in the native conditions. (It's a bit too hot and dry for this plant here.)
I'm not really a good gardener: I'm just a lucky humbug who LOVES this Plant Very MUCH!
R.I.P.
..but now, you've very much to smoke.
And now, 3,000 words about how much I love my Garden!
All Photos July 13th, 2008.
Plants still getting bigger and BIGGER all the time. (I'm scared ... )
Happy Gardening!
Your plants are so amazing.
I wish I had that kind of sunlight where I live, I wish I had more than a window to grow them in.
I also wish there was more information about growing Salvia with professional lights rather than just fluorescent bulbs and sunlight
Keep on gardening guys, and best of luck with your situation Sea Mac.
James
youre plant is so amazing =D
i would already be happy about a 15cm cutting and youre plant is 3meters high ^^
XD
A Night shot of the Garden.
July 29th:
Some leaves as big as my hand!
So jealous .
I almost lost my plant!
I went away for vacation and I stupidly forgot leave a reminder to water my plants .
They went a whole 8 days without a drop of water. I started to freak out, came home, and they were extremely parched, you could tell by the leaves, and the plant dropped all it's smaller leaves in favour for the bigger ones.
This plant is sheerly amazing.
James
P.S. Does anyone know if a watering device is good for salvia? I know that you leave a few days in between waterings, but if I leave, I won't have any means of watering my plants, and im sure people will forget.

A Couple of them got TOO big and fell over in a pile!
They are OK with this and would gladly grow "Upward" in a new direction.
I Am not OK with this. I must repot AGAIN! DANG!
How to repot a 3 Meter/10 foot Salvia plant? AND save my back?
hehehe, you might be out of luck sea mac!
Yeah, it seems to be working quite well, I moved them into clay pots, big clay pots. They have 3x the original root ball space, at least.
It'd be nice if they tripled in size too

What's up with Carl?
No pictures of astonishing salvia?
Are you buried alive under your incredible 15 foot plants?
We have a convenient excuse ->winter break, what's yours?
Best regards, B.
don´t think that this man could stop growing salvia
As I first saw your plants I was lost for words, and nothing changed actually.
You have to imagine we do have plants that are maybe 30cms up to 1,5m. It is as you would compare, a orb-weaver spider with an Goliath birdeater.
It's just so amazing
Best wishes to you and your plants
My garden was at its largest last year. But I still have a couple of "Trees" Left
I like all 5 pages of this topic best: http://www.salviasource.org/forum/general-talk/recreational-time-out/30/ you can see some of my best works on those last 3 pages!

I wish mine were as yours, but when I ordered my cutting it was very hot outside and so the cutting dry up
The sad thing is, since a longer distance of time we didnt heard anything new from our californian friend
Hey: I'm not dead yet.
A lot has happened since I last Wrote here.
A Short summary:
My garden was lost (all but 1 plant) when the cruel landlord (who was robbing me for years) gave me 60 days notice to move out.
I was blessed to find a new house at which I could start over. A year ago I started over.
A Friend left 2 'Blosser' strain plants in my care 'for safekeeping'. I named them "Dearie" and "Darling".
The 'Aquarian' strain plant grew back from a dead looking root ball in the Old pot. Only Survivor of Old Garden. His name is "American". Other "baby" plants have Serial Codes and Birth Times on their pots but haven't taken names for themselves yet.
So, now we have a new location to grow in. And, Somehow, I have gotten these plants to behave crazily again.
First: you can easily get seeds from Salvia plants. The HARD Trick is getting them to flower.
I knew this. So I placed a 10 foot 'wall' (with a 'roof') of Black Tarpaulins around the garden area this fall. Then I put the 2 BIG 'Blosser' plants back in the dark to grow.

I have Pollinated 3 days in a row. And you all have a front row seat - again - as another batch of Plants slowly overruns my house and Give Me SEEDS!
Namaste!
Carl (C. Mc. = Sea Mac) McCall
The 'Aquarian' Strain plant has 5 or 6 seeds developing on 2 different racemes.
The 2 'Blossers' are just getting revved up and I began pollinating them today.

Success!
Tonight I crawled around on the ground under my plants with a strong flashlight and tweezers and picked up as many calicies as I could find.
I examined the calicies and found at least one with ripe seeds in it.
I want to send all my seeds this year to Mr. Daniel Siebert.
